Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and faced interruptions to water systems, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a minor was killed in a separate assault in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, based on information from area administrators.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while the country's government has demanded "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and implementing penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty rockets targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.
