19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
This marks his initial title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since that period of that year.
Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.
The player's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on court had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.
The champion recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.
The opponent saved four early-game chances in a close final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Suitably, he secured the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
