Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they added.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.
An important political figure said the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
